Monday’s Morning Routines

Jamie, 29 ;), LA

6:00am: Up and out of bed and straight to my morning office (actually a spare room away from the family, so I can make noise)

6:15am: Switch on the news (ok ESPN) and work through emails.

6:45am: Grab an iced tea and some sort of cereal to get the metabolism going

7:15am: Exercise (now fully awake)

8:15am: Check-in with my daughter, grab some more food and brush my teeth

8:30am: First client call of the day (more iced tea)

9:30am: Monday Talent company wide kick-off call (full of joy, now ready for anything)

10:15am: Candidate calls/insanity begins

8:00am: Alarm goes off (for the first time) Tell myself ‘It’s Monday and I will squeeze in a workout in the afternoon

8:15am: Second alarm rings and is snoozed at least twice

8:45am: Swallow lingering Sunday Scaries and dart out of bed like something scared the hell out of me

9:00am: Finally sit down at my laptop with my first coffee of the day and make sure there are no pressing emails.

9:30am: Fix a huge water bottle that I am to drink first thing in the morning (it will take me until 3pm to finish said water bottle). Take all my vitamins and chug my Vitamin C electrolyte water that supposedly gets rid of the last bit of hangover I probably have left from Saturday night. Just being honest here.

10:00am: Second cup of coffee, first snack of the day because I feel ill from taking my vitamins on an empty stomach, and talk myself out of getting on TikTok

10:05am: Productivity

10:30am: Remember I love my job and make Monday my B*tch

Isaac, 26, Ind.

7:30am: First alarm in a high-pitched chime jolts me awake

7:45am: I give in to said alarm and wake up to get ready for MONDAY...after a big glass of water #hydrated

8:30am: I drive to the nearest coffee shop to pick up an iced latte in the middle of -10000 degree weather

9:00am: I sift through emails and then make a to-do list based on what I need to do from last week and this upcoming week

9:30am: Productivity - setting the pace for the day

10:00am: I wonder if I should eat breakfast now or wait until lunch since I’m only 2 hours until our lunchtime meetings

11:00am: I realize that it’s Monday and I get to see my team during lunch and all is good for the day

11:30am: Usually realize that I’ve ordered lunch too late and it will arrive during my team meeting

12:15pm: Lunchtime with the MONDAY team!

Jaqueline, 24 (25 next week), NYC

7:00am: Alarm goes off; I groan and roll further under the covers when I realize it’s no longer the weekend and an entire week awaits. I snooze it two more times before peeling myself out from under the covers

7:15am: Quickly (and messily) make my bed – the one downside to living in NYC is that there’s not enough space for mess. I chug the water on my bedside table hoping it erases the lingering hangover

7:30am: I lay out my yoga mat and queue up Megan Roup’s The Sculpt Society – it’s the only app that requires the least commitment while getting the best workout in. After a quick sweat sesh I feel energized and ready to take on the day

8:30am: While doing my skincare routine, I’m grateful I don’t need to put on makeup and commute to the office on snowy Monday mornings

9:00am: With a large coffee in hand, I peruse my emails and create my weekly to-do list. I open LinkedIn and tackle all my candidate calls, which luckily makes the morning fly by

12:00pm: Team lunch with the Monday fam! My favorite part of the week, and it somehow feels like we’re all together even though it’s over Zoom. This week’s theme - nouveau riche

Gabriela, 23, Philly

7:00am: Ariana Grande sings REM to me to wake up & I feed my pup Flynn.

7:15am: I make myself the best hash brown bowl ever

8:00am: Walk Flynn outside until he sees a squirrel and tugs the leash (he's small but mighty)

8:45am: Skincare! Skincare! And more skincare, 🧖‍♀️ with a handful of sunscreen. There’s a reason why I still get carded at bars (pre-COVID of course)

9:00am: I have my 1 of 2 morning coffees ️ and check my emails & Slack messages  *Mario Kart songs plays in the background* for focusing purposes

9:30am: Write down my to-do list for the day on my ‘unsolicited advice’ weekly planner. Add some stickers to that day as well to spark some morning joy

10:00am: Searching for candidates on LinkedIn while thinking about what I’m going to eat for lunch. Shake Shack is always a good option

10:15am: The second cup of coffee is made

10:30am: Looks at the day ahead and can’t wait to have the best MONDAY ever (once again)!!!

Gillian, ***, Brooklyn

7:00am: First alarm goes off. Who am I kidding? Immediately snooze

7:30am, 7:45am, 8:00am, 8:05am: Subsequent alarms go off. I snooze every single yet for some reason I keep the same alarms every day…

8:15am: Yet another alarm goes off. I rush to hit snooze but then I remember I have a potty-training puppy. He is lucky he is so f***ing cute

8:30am: After a serious bed snuggle session with Roux (see photo, need I say more?) I grab whatever shoes are closest to my reach and deliriously throw on my coat (it is still so damn cold in NYC)

8:32am: Usually at this time I remember that I forgot to bring a bag for Roux's poop and treats to reward him if he actually goes outside (we are still working on this)

8:45am: Back in my apartment since we don't last outside long. Roux (Roux-Shiloh, Chunky, Rouxy Beans, Rouxy Bear, Gremlin, Baby Grem, Bubba, Puppa, Buppa and… you get the idea) absolutely hates the cold which makes potty training that much more difficult (joy!)

9:00am: Laying back in bed scrolling on interior design accounts on Instagram, heyyyy procrastination!

9:15am: Start answering emails and Slack messages from my phone

9:30am: More emails and messages start flooding in. That morning anxiety really starts setting in and I know it is time to grab my laptop and get to work. Still not ready to leave bed though (oh the joys of working from home)

10:00am: Teetering on the brink of serious productivity. Anxiety starting to fade as I am actually getting s*hit done

10:30am: GAME TIME. I am in the zone. Not even the frantically barking puppy in the background can stop me. This is when it hits me - I really f-ing love what I do
